Last night, June 16, 136,000 attendees descended upon the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the first night of Electric Daisy Carnival 2017. The staggering number of concert-goers makes EDC the largest single-weekend festival in the country in 2017 (Coachella hosted 125,000 attendees per weekend in its two-week run this year).

On the first night of the event, 3 News Las Vegas reports that 443 medical calls were made, six of which required that attendees be transported to the hospital. A single festival employee was required for a pre-existing medical condition.

Additionally, 29 individuals were arrested felony narcotics charges, and 118 attendees were ejected.

Following the bombing of Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester and recent discovery of the Las Vegas strip in an apparent ISIS propaganda video, Insomniac has reminded festival-goers to report any suspicious activity they may encounter. Fortunately, local authorities report that no threats against the festival have been made.

Statistically speaking, the number of arrests and medical calls made on the first night of EDC are small given its massive population. There have been no fatalities and none of the hospitalized individuals are in critical condition.

The festival continues tonight with sets from Above & Beyond, Dillon Francis, Tiësto, and more. Select sets can be watched via Red Bull TV’s live stream of the event.
